So I wanted something special for the Gatecrash Pre-Release, and I knew just what I needed. :)
Being the dedicated Dimir player I am, I set out to make myself something UB-ish, and I knew a Dimir signet would be wonderful. I pulled out my Sculpey and set to work!
This is my process and the final result! LEt me know what you think! I’ve been questioned about making more for the other guilds as Keychains, as I’m the only MtG player I know that wears pretty choker necklaces ;)
So there’s the plan, the build-up, post-baking (I didn’t mind the coloration I got during baking as I knew I’d be painting it), painting, and my finished necklace. I hope you like it!
I was cleaning up my room tonight and I ran across a poster I’d meant to hang up ages ago (I REALLY needed to clean my room).
Yep I just hung the promotional poster of Sorin from the Dark Ascension prerelease above my bed. I think this counts as a ‘pin up’ in my world. *swoon* He’s so dreamy~
(No worries, the D&D ‘Dragon Types’ chart that previously hung there is just being moved to the other side of the room, not replaced!)
I work at a game shop (as you may already know) and I keep my key for the shop on the same keyring as my van’s key’s. My van broke (break line rusted through) and I haven’t been driving it, so I haven’t had my shop key with me. I keep forgetting to grab the keys. So to fix the problem, I pulled the key off of the van’s ring and I wanted to get it its own keyring.
I couldn’t find any cool keychains around the house and it seemed silly to go out to buy one, so I found some Shrink film stuff, the kind you draw on with sharpies (Or in this case it said I could use Acrylic paints) and then bake, and it sets what you draw and shrinks to a solid little piece of plastic. So in a blatant declaration of my color allegiance, I made this little tag for my key. :3 It’s pretty cool, the edges are see-through and it taps for a blue and a black if I pay 1. Who doesn’t like mana acceleration?
I’m thinking of doing a few more for friends! It’s a quick and easy craft and it was oodles of fun, not to mention they look pretty good.
(Yes I drive a van at the age of 22. It’s like a rolling house. It’s the crappiest car we have, so of course I learned to drive on it and now I take it all over. I also have a ‘Vette, so it’s okay.)
A commission I did a while back for one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
She asked for a Kemba, Kha Regent and a Skithyrix for her EDH decks, they are her generals.
Kemba’s holding a Sword of Fire and Ice, which is definitely my favorite part of the card. I added cats around the bottom, as I had some blank spaces I wasn’t sure what to do with. Still not entirely happy with that Kemba… but this was such a fun alter to do.

Well, the effect is going to have to ‘look back in time’ to see what happened. It’s going to see all of the creatures leaving play at the same time, so you’d gain more than 1 life!
Liliana for Ravnica Coffee.
Channeling a little of my inner PolishTamales tonight ;) Just a little sketch for the heck of it. I hope you guys like it! I was bumming around yesterday when I decided Liliana would look cute in a turtleneck instead of her usual low cut outfits and drinking a coffee, so I tried to ‘modernize’ her a little, but retain her look, so I tried to bring the look of her tiara through a hair clip and earrings. I thought up the joke about the coffee after XD
A trio of Skithyrix alters I did for a trade, just extended the art on these bad boys.
These were delightful to work on, and I loved doing the fog on them. At one point I was working with a pin dipped in paint to get some of the finer detail work done. There are certainly things about them I don’t like, but over-all I had TONS of fun doing this set. I try to make each card in a set a little different, just to give them some more flavor and make them more fun to look at.
I wish I’d gotten a better picture of them before sending them off, the lighting is horrible here and I hadn’t cleaned up the edges yet in this picture so there’s some rough edges here that weren’t on the final card. I heard a rumour that about a week after seeing them off, they were sold to an online store for twice their face value.
Working on an alter tonight. I’m not really happy with how it’s going, still working the bugs out (heh, get it, because he’s covered… in… bugs? :I )
Still needs a lot of work though, so there’s that. He looks like my ex. Ew.

With the pre-release and drop of Innistrad, I thought I’d review some of the spoiled cards!
I really liked the cycle of the “Increasing” cards in Dark Ascension, so I was so glad to see the new “Decreasing” cards! I think they’re especially relevant and have a nice symmetry. I didn’t think they were bringing flashback back in this set, but it looks like I was wrong!
